X-PIPES |
Since V8’s fire unevenly, exhaust exits in pulses rather than a steady flow. While one pipe is filled with pressure the other pipe is relatively pressureless but the connecting of the two pipes in a siamese pattern allows pressure to be released to the other side. This action allows the exhaust to pass through the pipe quicker and this better ‘breathing’ increases horsepower.

All pipes are are mandrel bent, to allow for the maximum flow of exhaust gasses, which boosts acceleration.

Universal X-pipe Kits 
(For Grand Prix, Grand Am, GTO, Tempest, Lemans, Chevelle, El Camino, Skylark, Grand Sport, Nova, Cutlass, 442, Pontiac B-body, GM B-body, Mopar A & B-body, 1967-73 & 1978-04 Mustang)

Our universal X-pipes fit most classic automobiles. Simply cut at (1) to adjust for the width of your headers. A plain straight pipe will be necessary to connect your collector reducer to the front of the X. The back of the X can be cut at (2) to adjust for various muffler configurations. Cuts at (3) are often necessary to accommodate different muffler lengths and body styles. Check our ‘downpipes’ section to see if we have downpipes that connect directly from oem manifolds to our X pipe assembly.
Special X-pipe. Allows exhaust pipes to mount in the driveshaft tunnel for better clearance. Modification of body pan is required on convertibles but can be done!
NOTE: 1967-69 F-body Convertible owners cars were originally equipped with a body pan reinforcement brace located directly under the transmission tailshaft. In order to utilize our X-pipe, it is necessary to either add RPE631FA spacers that lower the body pan to allow clearance for the X assembly OR remove the body pan and install subframe connectors.

All of our Street Legal crossovers utilize our small, but mighty, 5.0 litre ODBC compliant, catalytic converters. They out-flow most performance mufflers and weigh a mere 2.5 lbs. These are designed specifically to give your Mustang a major wake-up call in both sound and performance. The modular design of these x-pipes allow for conversion from off-road to street-leal and back to off-road with optional cat-delete pipes. These Mini converters are 409 stainless, but weigh only 2.5 lbs and measure only 11” long. Installed, they only take up 7” in length. The 5.0 Litre is rated at 4,500 lbs capacity. Pypes cats and catted X-pipes will pass most states emmissions testing proceedures. However, check your local and state ordinances for installation and usage regulations. This kit is already included in the street-legal x-pipes above. Customers with off-road x-pipes can purchase this kit to make their exhaust, street-legal.

Rather than make you replace brand new ones, this specially made stainless X-pipe crossover can be added to your existing oem catted downpipes by cutting the downpipes in the appropriate spot and slipping this X-pipe over the existing pipes. This 2.5" mandrel bent X pipe kit is especially made for 94-96 Impala SS models, but may fit other GM B body cars for the same years. It will bolt right in to your existing system. Clamps are included.
